  HISTORY

Sista Shena is our first featured artist. Her Grandparents Elijah and Ruthie Mondy were both singers. Her Mother (who is also a singer) Loretta Taylor or as we affectionately call her Mom’s T provides more information on her parents:

Elijah Mondy (Top), Ruthie Mondy (Bottom)

My father Elijah Mondy Sr. was a great singer and sang for as long as I could remember. He sang with a Quartet called The Southern Echos and performed throughout the South.

When he migrated to Chicago he formed another Quartet The Golden Suns 1960s and sang throughout Chicago.

Mr. Mondy realized he had talent in his own family; so he formed The Mondy Trio consisting of his daughters and wife. My mother Ruthie Mondy who sang soprano took a leave from the group and my father asked me to take her place. At 11 years old I was very proud to take her place; He trained me to sing Soprano and 1st Soprano.

In the Mid 1960s The Mondy Trio performed on the Bill Doc Lee Radio Show; which was a weekly radio show on WVON. We also performed on the Al Abram Pontiac Radio Show.

My father passed away a few years ago but God gave him the wisdom to instill music in us early and I did the same for my children. I sing background for Shena and we’re determined to use our gifts and talents for the Lord!
